The UConn women’s lacrosse will turn their attention to the New Hampshire Wildcats after their heartbreaking loss against Syracuse. The Huskies kept it close and trailed by as much as one late but the Orange was able to hold on, and improve to 5-0 on the season.
UNH (1-2) will travel to Storrs, hoping to hand the Huskies their first home loss of the season. UConn gave No. 3 Syracuse everything they could handle in a hard fought match. Freshman Grace Nolan had the first hat trick of her career, and goaltender Shannon Nee received fantastic defensive support in front of her. UConn’s defense held Syracuse to a season-low 12 goals. UConn outshot 30-20 but came up with nine saves, seven in the second half.
UNH’s scheduled match Wednesday against Dartmouth was postponed due to poor weather conditions. In their last game, the Wildcats fell to UMass after allowing six goals in the first half. UNH made a run but couldn’t overcome the deficit.
The last time UNH and UConn faced off, the Wildcats came out on top with an 11-7 victory. Alexandra Croft had three goals in the losing effort. Katherine Finkelston also contributed a goal.
The Wildcats and Huskies will get under way at the George J Sherman Family Sports Complex at 1 p.m.
